I mentioned a few months back when I started this blog that, among other things, this blog would be a junk drawer where I could stash stuff I wanted to have handy. Hence, this post. I went to a kick-off lunch for NaNoWriMo a couple weeks ago, and the MLs* had us write a pep talk to ourselves, which they would then mail to us about half-way through. Got mine in the mail yesterday. Thanks, MLs, for the wicked stamp! Here’s what I said:
Never, never, never, never, never, never, never,
never, never, never, never, never, never give up!
You are in the process of building the writerly habits that will be part of the rest of your life. Make it work. Fit it in. Get used to it.
Writing is a privilege. Be grateful you get to have these adventures. Remember to listen for the truths you are destined to help share. Bless the work and the effort.
Words are part of the human mystery. Honor them with time, industry, patience and gratitude. Make this daily journey a daily event. No big deal. Just you doing life.
